QUESTION: How do I use the Glycolic Acid Peel?
ANSWER:
Wash your face with a Facial Cleanser. Then apply the Peel carefully over your face, avoiding the eyes and the skin surrounding your eyes. The first time you use it, leave on for only 30 seconds to test first - see tips below - and rinse off.
See how your skin reacts. If your skin tolerates it well, next week leave on for 1 minute, then 2 minutes, and so on until you can leave it on for 5 minutes, and then rinse off with water. Increases in leave-on time won't be weekly. It will be based on how well your skin tolerates the product.
The tingle will be your signal on how well your skin tolerates the product. If you feel only a slight tingle, that's fine. If the tingle gets uncomfortable or burns, then you need to decrease leave-on time.
Apply toner, neutralizer or baking soda and water, to neutralize the acid. Increase leave-on time over time, as your skin can tolerate it.
Here are some tips for you:
-
Test first. The first time you use this product you must test it on a small area. See how your skin reacts by leaving it for only 30 seconds. If your skin tolerates it well, you can then use it normally as directed in the packaging. It's a good idea to start with only 1 minute leave-on time after the first test. Overtime you can increase leave-on time to 2-3 minutes.
-
The peeling happens in SMALL PARTICLES. You won't pull away layers of skin. Dead skin cells are flushed away in very small particles when you rinse the product off.
-
Take photos to compare results. The best way to see the difference from using this product is to take before and after photos. Take a photo of your face today, and then take another photo within 2-3 weeks. While this product can produce almost instant results, 2-3 weeks would show even better results and more to compare.
-
Frequency of use. You may have noticed that we don't include any directions about frequency of use on the product or its box. That's because it depends on your skin tolerance towards the acids. While this product is very gentle on the skin, each person reacts differently and we want to avoid any misuse of the product. What we suggest is that you start using it once per week and leave it on for only 1-3 minutes. The trigger for rinsing it off will be when you feel a slight tingling sensation. If 3 minutes have passed and you did not feel any tingling, rinse it off anyway. No tingling does not mean it's not working for you; it's just that your skin tolerates it well. For the first 2 weeks of use, only leave it on for 1-3 minutes. You can then progressively increase both leave-on time and frequency of use as you see fit according to your skin tolerance. However, don't do it more than twice per week. Exfoliation is not needed to be done more often.

Apply on a clean face. We highly recommend you cleanse your face with our Hydrating Cleanser before using the Glycolic Acid Peel. Getting rid of impurities, dirt and makeup is very important for the Peel to do its work as best as possible.
- Neutralize the Glycolic Acid Peel. Neutralizing means stopping the peeling process. This is easily achieved by rinsing off the product thoroughly with water and following up with our Hydrating Toning Mist and Retinol Moisturizer. However, some people are very sensitive to acid peels so they need further steps before applying more skin care products. For those, we suggest mixing 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 1/2 cups of water. Dip a clean cotton pad into the baking soda solution and squeeze out most of the excess liquid. Then gently dab on your skin. It will neutralize the acid and stop the peeling process. Once done, you can follow up with the skin care products mentioned above or your favorite moisturizer.
